The Future of Mitsubishi Will Go Wireless

Everything is going wireless these days. And soon "everything" will include automobiles; Mitsubishi hopes to one day render charging systems obsolete. To accomplish this goal, the automaker has partnered with WiTricity and IHI Corporations to develop an innovative wireless charging system for electric vehicles (EV). For now, the technology will be available with the upcoming Mitsubishi i.

The idea is a bit difficult to conceptualize, Jeff D'Ambrosio Mitsubishi in Downington admits. But then again, think about the progression of cellphones or the Internet. Just fifteen years ago, you would've been deemed a lunatic for saying that someday internet would be available right in the palm of your hand. Also, the best part is that WiTricity has already developed technology that will lay the ground work for wireless EV. The company patented a magnetic resonance charging system that has the ability to safely send 3.3W of power over a span of 20cm.

Where exactly will this wireless charging be found? According to Totally Motor, charging stations will be added to places where mass amounts of the population visit on a frequent basis. Some locations might include shopping malls, parking garages, office buildings, and even homes. Mitsubishi and its partners hope to make EV use easier and more readily available for drivers, governments and companies. Of course, many might question the potential side-effects of sending mass quantities of car power through the air. Thankfully, Mitsubishi is committed to clarifying any imminent legal issues and conducting practical tests before publicly releasing the technology.

The Mitsubishi i with wireless charging may not be available quite yet but at Jeff D'Ambrosio Mitsubishi - 1221 E. Lancaster Ave. Downingtown, PA - we have plenty of new Mitsubishi models that are.
