Mitsubishi Anticipates Market Needs with Two Futuristic Concepts

Currently, Jeff D'Ambrosio Mitsubishi has plenty of new Mitsubishi models available at 1221 E. Lancaster Ave. Downingtown, PA 19335. However, if you're more interested in peering into the automaker's future, than you'll love the new Mitsubishi concept specs we're about to share.

For next month's Tokyo International Auto Show, Mitsubishi has prepped two concept models: the Mitsubishi Mirage and the PX-MiEV II. Starting with the Mirage, our favorite automaker has anticipated the needs of an emerging market that's aimed at compact, maneuverable cars. With only 146-inches bumper-to-bumper, the two-box, five-door Mirage hatchback is perfect for the job. Powered by a 1.0-liter, inline, three-cylinder MIVEC engine, the model also achieves excellent fuel economy through weight reduction, lowered drivetrain friction, improved brakes and an aerodynamic body to reduce drag.

Forestalling the demands of a different, more eco-friendly market, Mitsubishi sculpted the PX-MiEV II from a blend of pre-existing technology and design. With a plug-in hybrid powertrain, the model draws on current Mitsubishi EV technology and combines it with an SUV physique. Catering to consumers in need of better EV range, the automaker gave this latest variant a battery-only drive range of 31-miles and a total drive range of 496-miles. Despite its 2.0-liter, four-cylinder engine, designers claim that the new PX-MiEV garners enough instant torque from its electric motors to accelerate like a 3.0-liter, V6.

At this point in time, details regarding the concepts' production are still hazy. However, be sure to check back because Jeff D'Ambrosio Mitsubishi is dedicated to releasing new Mitsubishi information as soon as it arrives.
